In an effort to better adjust rising ninth graders to the experience of high school, the South Lakes staff has introduced the Rising Ninth Graders Transition Program, a plan designed to introduce soon to be Seahawks to the high school environment.
Starting in the summer before the 2013-14 school year, the Rising Ninth Graders Transition Program will offers two, one-week sessions through July 29-Aug. 2 and Aug. 5- 9, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The program gives students a head start by allowing them to become familiar with the building’s layout.
Topics addressed include study skills, career exploration, IB learner profile, and academic focus. The program also provides opportunities to meet with school counselors and discuss electives and extracurricular activities.
Transportation will not be provided and students in the program are expected to attend all five days.
Registration is free and begins on Tuesday, July 4. For more information contact Dean of Students Tony Washington in the attendance office or at dawashington@fcps.edu.
