Tutoring is a resource that has been utilized by students since the establishment of public education. It presents an opportunity for struggling scholars to receive extra more intensive academic assistance in the efforts of obtain a better grade.
There is a new tutoring program being offered at South Lakes called SLAP which stands for “South Lakes Academic Program.” Senior club president Andrew Xue works alongside other students to pair willing tutors with willing tutees.
“Science is going well right now,” Xue said. “We had math but it sort of died down because of the Math Honor Society. Peers are helping me develop other subjects.”
Multiple students signed up to volunteer as tutors for SLAP.
“It’s a good program,” senior Vinny Venkat said. “It’ll definitely help people who need help by giving them a friendly figure to assist them.”
Anyone interested in getting tutoring or serving with SLAP can contact Xue at Drewxue@gmail.com. Sessions are held during school hours during select learning seminars. Various subject tutoring is available.
