The 2012 Video Fairfax Competition registration starts Jan 1.This competition allows students to submit films to win cash prizes.
The program, open to all Fairfax County students, promotes creativity while working with media to gain experience in art medium and to tell stories. Entries will be judged by a panel of professionals from local television studios, educational institutions, and independent companies.
Students from each of the four grade categories will have a chance to win cash awards provided by Cox Communications. The first place winners will receive $500. Second and third place runner-ups will accept $200 and $100 respectively.
The Submission categories are Arts, Anxiety Bullying and Stress Management, Civic, Geography, and History, Diversity, Global Cultures, and Languages, Documentary, Drama/ Comedy, Internet Safety/ Digital Age, PSA/ Media, Science, Math and Technology, and Sports.
Starting Jan. 1 and ending Apr. 2 at 5 p.m., students can register online at http://www.artsfairfax.org/programs/video-fairfax . A student can send his or her video to the Arts Council of Fairfax County, Attn. 2012 Video Fairfax, 4022 Hummer Road, Annandale, VA 22030.
Awards will be presented on Friday, May 4 at 7:00 p.m. at the Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center on 3740 Old Lee Highway, Fairfax, VA 22030.
