QRU? Freshmen volleyboys coach Margaret Gillen
Margaret Gillen is co-captain of the girls freshmen volleyball team, and the head leader of the freshman volleyboys team.
How does it feel to be in charge of teaching twenty freshman boys to play volleyball?
It’s complete insanity and frustrating. But it is pretty cool knowing that they depend on me and the other coaches to help them improve.
During practice, what are some of the things you do to prepare for the upcoming game?
We do lots of drills such as serving, passing, setting, hitting lines, and scrimmaging.
How do you handle all those rowdy boys? Do they listen to you?
It’s very hard to handle all the boys. We have to herd them into a group so that they can hear what we say. Most of them don’t listen to any suggestions we make.
Can students come and watch the game?
Students can definitely come. We get points for homecoming week based on how many people from our class show up.
Who will your freshman volleyboys team play against for their game?
The freshman team plays against the sophomores.
