Junior Jojo Lear, a returning member of the varsity baseball team has high hopes for the upcoming season.
How do you think the baseball season will go this year?
I think that it’s going to go well this year because we have the outfield stacked. The only problem is that Jared Abelson, our starting catcher is out for half of the season and Jack Scrimshire, another pitcher, is also out. I think we’re going to do pretty decent though.
How will the team handle the loss of the seniors from last year?
Our biggest loss from last year was Billy McLaughlin, our main pitcher, and Ryan Forrest, who provided some offense in the outfield position. This year we’ll have other guys to back them up, so we’ll be fine.
How are you and your team preparing in the off season?
It’s all planned out. We work out after school in the weight room. We throw and run on Tuesdays. Thursdays we have hitting. The only bad thing is that our Sunday workouts got cancelled because of the FCPS sports regulations.
