After practicing psychology for the last 25 years in places like North Carolina and New York, Andi Scholl will become a school psychologist for South Lakes.
This being your first year at South Lakes, where were you working before?
Before, I was working at Crossfield Elementary and Brookfield Elementary, both of which are in Fairfax County, as a school psychologist. However, before that I was a play therapist in a hospital. I have a master’s in recreation and worked with hospitalized children. I worked in infant stipulation and preoperative teaching.
What made you want to get into education and work with children?
I’ve always found kids extremely interesting. I enjoyed the way they thought and developed as they worked. My entire family has a history in education. Both my father and grandfather were principles, my mother was a teacher, and my sister is a special ed teacher.
Besides psychology, what other interests do you have?
I enjoy kayaking and hiking. I once kayaked in the Bermuda Triangle.
Anything you want the student body to know?
I’ve been very, very impressed with the students at this school. They’re all so polite and very friendly. I’m always happy to talk and chat and want to make every student aware they’re welcome here anytime.
