Niki’s Guide: change the scene
Students can benefit from changing their scenery when hitting a mental block that disallows them to finish homework.
When the mind is too distracted on the day to day happenings at one’s home, a change of scenery can assist students in accomplishing tasks that are undesirable.
Going to places like the library, or even switching to a quiet room without distractions can allow students to be more productive and get work done.
Another way to battle the mental wall of completing difficult assignments is to simply begin them. The more one thinks about their homework, the more stressful it becomes.
The simple task of writing an outline or just beginning the work that seems hard to do can drive students to finish what they started.
Lastly, students can eliminate distraction by putting their phones, friends, and social media away. This may seem outrageous to some, but nothing is so important that it can’t wait for homework to be complete.
