Niki’s Guide: never take the easy way out
Students often come into predicaments both socially, academically, or in athletic situations when they must choose between the more glamorous option and the morally correct one.
High school intends not only to shape people into students, but into members of society as well.
Getting a poor grade on an assignment or assessment does not define a student. Similarly, making one poor decision doesn’t define a person.
However, continuing to take the easy way out and make decisions that will cause one to question their character has no positive impact and takes away from the purpose of schooling.
In college, honor and integrity have a higher value than grade point average. One blemish on the honor code will impact a student far more than one poor test grade.
In life, making a decision between the fun option and the right one can be difficult.
However, students must look at themselves and determine how the decisions they make impact their character.
Having strong, set morals takes one significantly farther in life than being able to cheat at any athletic event or academic assessment.
Coaches and teachers almost always assist students in their area of difficulty, and showing them persistent work ethic will often have a positive impact on the grade.
Cheating exists only for those who are not motivated enough to put in the work, and not mature enough to accept failure.
