Personal values take a significant effort to define, especially at such a young age. However, it is an important step before the end of high school.
Students struggle with expectations from parents and teachers to be the best at everything they do. In many cases, the aspects of life important to a student are not necessarily that of the parental or teacher units.
Having goals is a broad term with broad limits. Succeeding in school is necessary to get into college and allow options for the future as well as set up habits necessary to be able to follow a passion and change the world.
Putting school aside, it is beneficial for a student to think about every aspect of life possible and define values and priorities. Nobody can tell another person what to value in life. Priorities are something that must always be self-defined.
Values can come from relationships, music, school, clubs, sports, or any other outlet of creativity and passion.
After thinking as in depth as possible, use these newfound values to shape life in the corresponding direction.
