Compete to succeed. Often students are naturally competitive and use this drive to enhance their athletic performance.
This same principle can be applied to academics as well. As long as it maintains a healthy level, students who compete with each other about grades can improve test scores as well as creating a fun environment around assessments.
The intent of this friendly competition revolving around grades is not to demean any student. However, some individuals gain that extra drive to study and succeed in school by entering a friendly competition with peers.
