A live action Snow White film was released into theaters on March 21, 2025, about 88 years after the classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs film was originally released. It is a fantasy musical, directed by Marc Webb, famous for directing 500 Days of Summer, and written by Erin Cressida Wilson, who also wrote The Girl on the Train.
This film stars both up and coming actors and actresses, such as Rachel Zegler and Andrew Burnap, and established actors and actresses, such as Gal Gadot, also known for her role as Wonderwoman, and Ansu Kabia. Rachel Zegler portrays the role of Snow White herself, while Gal Gadot plays the Evil Queen.
This Snow White movie will be slightly different from the original. The main plot still remains similar to the original movie, however, some changes were made. Snow White is a maid, who is left to live with her controlling, evil, self-absorbed stepmother, who constantly asks her magical mirror who the fairest of them all is. She lives in constant fear that Snow White will grow to be more beautiful than her. In attempts to escape her envious stepmother, Snow White runs into the forest, where she encounters various animals and cottages inhabited by dwarfs. Knowing the evil queen is destroying the kingdom, these dwarfs team up with Snow White and her love interest Jonathan to restore the kingdom and defeat the evil queen.
So far, the film has not received great reviews and ratings. It was rated 2/10 stars on IMDb, and 43% Rotten Tomatoes. The Audience has used words such as “awful,” “terrible,” “a disaster,” “hollow,” “soulless,” and much worse. Other people that have seen the movie claim that it’s not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. The only real way to find out whether it’s a great movie or not is to watch it!
